I’ve done about 40,000 MOHS surgeries over the last 20 years and when SRT first came along, I was a little skeptical about it. But I’m here to tell you, SRT is a great addition and tool for derm practice and really should be part of derm training programs today. Recent Guidelines from the NCCN are actually starting to recommend that while surgery is the first choice (for NMSC), you can basically also consider SRT as a primary treatment when you’re thinking about cosmesis, function, and peoples’ preference.

Keloids recur 71% of the time after keloidectomty, and very often they come back larger than the original keloid so it’s a big problem. I think we all know that skin that has been treated with Xrays has delayed wound healing, but judicious use of Xrays may be able to reduce the excessive wound healing that occurs with recurring keloids after keloidectomy. And indeed the optimal biological effective dose of SRT has been identified (combined with keloid excision) to reduce the occurrences of keloids after keloidectomy and end up with a very nice cosmetic result post surgery.

I had these grotesque, huge growths on my face and body, and I just thought there was no help for me. The SRT-100, it was very easy compared to what I have been through with treatments I’d had before; it wasn’t painful at all. The treatment went very well, it wasn’t long and drawn out like some of the other stuff I’ve had in the past. It was very simple and it worked. I would truly recommend SRT to anyone who’s dealing with keloids.
