What is Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer?

Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) refers to a group of cancers that develop in the upper layers of the skin, most commonly in areas frequently exposed to the sun, such as the face, ears, neck, and hands. Unlike melanoma, which begins in the pigment-producing cells, the two most common types — bassal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma — start in the basal and squamous cells of the epidermis.

  • Basal Cell Carcinoma
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Diagnosis Doesn't Have to Mean Surgery

For patients with non-melanoma skin cancer, there are multiple treatment options available today.

  • Topical medications, best for superficial cancers that haven’t spread deep
  • Surgery (Mohs), the traditional standard of care for most cases
  • Superficial Radiotherapy (SRT), best for situations where scarring is a concern or surgery is risky

Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT) offers a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment designed to target basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas with surgical precision, without a single incision.
